Patrick Harper is an ISST Advanced Certified Schema Therapist, Supervisor and Trainer, and an accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist. He is Principal Investigator of the Group Schema Therapy for Borderline Personality Disorder research trial in Bradford, part of the largest international study of psychotherapy for Personality Disorder ever conducted.
Patrick has worked in a variety of NHS roles for the past 20 years. Beginning his career in 1997 as a Mental Health Social Worker, he trained as a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist at Manchester and Durham Universities, qualifying in 2002. Subsequently Patrick trained with the leading international figures in Schema Therapy: Dr Jeff Young in 2004; Prof. Arnoud Arntz 2007, 2008, 2013; and Dr Joan Farrell and Ida Shaw 2012 – present. Patrick works in the NHS as a Principal Psychological Therapist, leading a programme of Individual and Group Schema Therapy for individuals with complex and severe mental health problems.
Patrick gained ISST certification as an Advanced Schema Therapist in 2014 and as an Advanced Group Schema Therapist in 2016. This means that you may be confident that his practise has met the rigorous clinical standards and that he delivers treatment consistent with the Schema Therapy model.
In addition Patrick is a BABCP accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist. This means that his practise conforms to the high standards of expertise, ongoing professional development and supervision expected of psychotherapists in the U.K.
